Watch Penguin Chicks Online, College Admissions Workshop for 8th & 9th Graders

It's 5 things you need to know Wednesday.

1. How many zoo workers does it take to raise a penguin?

Here's something fun for you and/or your kids to follow: the Real Chicks of Central Park blog. Visitors to www.centralparkzoo.com/chicks can watch four gentoo and four chinstrap penguin chicks as they are raised by animal professionals at the Central Park Zoo. According to a zoo press release, the blog includes "photos (chick pics), videos (chick flicks), and keeper interviews (chick lit)." It will be updated continually for three weeks. Visitors can meet the chicks and their keepers, watch them grow, and see the painstaking care that goes into raising them. Could also make a cute holiday gift: With a $10 donation to the care of the penguin chicks a “chick magnet” will be sent to the recipient of your choice just in time for the holidays.
