Woman Charged With Assault, Child Endangerment

A Bedford Hills woman was arrested March 22 after she allegedly struck and bit her husband while her young children watched.
Police responded to a domestic incident call at 7:40 p.m. at a Bedford Road residence. Officers said Jean Coppola, 40, appeared to be intoxicated. Her husband described how she had cursed and assaulted him in front of their two children. She was brought to police headquarters and charged with third-degree assault with intent to injure and endangering the welfare of a child.
Coppola was released without bail pending an appearance in family court. A temporary order of protection was filed to separate her from her home until her court appearance.

Danbury man charged in driving arrest
On March 21, police conducted a traffic detail at the intersection of the I-684 exit ramp and Route 35. Officers observed Nicholas Belcastro, 43, using a cel phone. After stopping him they discovered he was driving without a valid inspection certificate.

Belcastro was charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a car and using a cel phone on a public highway. He was released on $150 bail pending a return to town court.
Man charged with felony DWI
A Bedford Hills man was arrested on March 21 at 6:44 p.m. after police observed him on Nottingham Road cross over the double yellow line into oncoming traffic—nearly colliding with the officers' car.
Police turned around and followed Michael Megale, 73, and stopped him on Cherry Street in Katonah. Megale appeared to police to be intoxicated and failed field sobriety tests. He refused an alco-sensor test at the scene. He was brought back to police headquarters where he refused to take a breathalyzer test.
Megale was charged with DWI, making an unsafe lane change and refusing a pre-screen test. A felony charge was added due to a prior DWI conviction in 2011. He was released on $500 bail pending his next court appearance.
