Bellmore-JFK Students To Learn Vital First Aid Training
Northwell Health professionals will lead the Stop the Bleed training on Friday.
BELLMORE, NY — With the prevalence of gun violence across schools in the country, every second can mean a difference in saving a life. One local school will receive vital first-aid training from Northwell Health.
It was made possible by Bellmore-Merrick John F. Kennedy High School student Sydney Brewer, who raised money to purchase dozen of Stop the Bleed kits.
On Friday, Northwell physicians, nurses and EMTs will teach the student body how to apply tourniquets and pack wounds to stop bleeding.

Northwell staff will lead a teaching session using medical "dummies" for the demonstration.
May marks the fifth annual National Stop the Bleed Month, which highlights the importance of learning the critical skill.
