• Suspect arrested for brutal deli murders on Long Island (shorenewsnetwork.com) — A longtime Bethpage deli was the scene of a deadly stabbing early Thursday, leaving two well-known owners dead and a son charged with their murders. Police say they found the couple behind the counter with fatal wounds and arrested the suspect outside. Shocked neighbors have been gathering at the Hicksville Road shop to mourn and support the family’s legacy.
   

• Wantagh's Martini wins Newsday's Thorp Award (newsday.com) — Bethpage football fans will recognize Wantagh star Luke Martini, whose late interception sealed the Conference III final and ended the Golden Eagles’ comeback hopes. The standout sophomore rushed for nearly 2,000 yards, starred on defense, and has now earned Newsday’s prestigious Tom Thorp Award as Nassau County’s top player. Coaches say his all-around impact made game-planning against him a nightmare.
