Binghamton City Council looks to ban ICE cooperation (binghamtonhomepage.com) — Binghamton residents may see a formal change in how local police interact with federal immigration authorities, as City Council considers a law banning the use of city resources to aid ICE enforcement. Film Shot Exclusively in Binghamton and Johnson City to Premiere in Binghamton this Week (wicz.com) — A locally shot feature film, “Stationed At Home,” will premiere in Binghamton this Thursday at 7 p.m. at Regal Cinemas, with free but ticketed showings through the weekend. Syracuse, Utica, Binghamton nonprofits to use state funds for homeless housing – Central New York Business Journal (cnybj.com subscription) — Binghamton will see a major boost in homeless housing as Greater Opportunities for Broome and Chenango, Inc. uses $8.3 million in state funds to rehab and build two residential buildings in the city. The project will preserve 14 existing units, add seven new supportive units, and create 69 beds in fully electric, three-story facilities on Griswold Street.

From Labs to Local Tables: How Research Is Helping Fight Food Insecurity (newswise.com) — Researchers and students at Binghamton University are teaming up with local groups to tackle food insecurity across Broome County, including in the City of Binghamton. Their Food Justice Working Group helped shape a countywide Food Access Plan, mapping gaps in resources and launching five targeted initiatives to improve access, nutrition education, and support for underserved neighborhoods over the next two years.
