2. Binghamton City Council looks to ban ICE cooperation (binghamtonhomepage.com) — Binghamton residents may see a formal change in how local police interact with federal immigration authorities, as City Council considers a law banning the use of city resources to aid ICE enforcement. Supporters say it would protect fearful immigrant neighbors, while the mayor’s office maintains city police already avoid immigration enforcement and the sheriff defends housing ICE detainees at the county jail.

3. Film Shot Exclusively in Binghamton and Johnson City to Premiere in Binghamton this Week (wicz.com) — A locally shot feature film, “Stationed At Home,” will premiere in Binghamton this Thursday at 7 p.m. at Regal Cinemas, with free but ticketed showings through the weekend. Filmed entirely in Binghamton and Johnson City, the Christmas Eve story follows a taxi driver’s long night with misfit passengers and a shared search for meaning.

4. Syracuse, Utica, Binghamton nonprofits to use state funds for homeless housing – Central New York Business Journal (cnybj.com subscription) — Binghamton will see a major boost in homeless housing as Greater Opportunities for Broome and Chenango, Inc. uses $8.3 million in state funds to rehab and build two residential buildings in the city.
