193rd Class Of Suffolk Police Recruits Sworn Into Police Academy
Suffolk County Police Department's 193rd Recruit Class was sworn in Monday, and will spend the next 32 weeks training at the police academy.
BRENTWOOD, NY — A new class of Suffolk County Police Department recruits are started their journey to looking good in blue.
SCPD's 193rd Recruit Class was sworn in Monday morning by Acting Commissioner Robert Waring during a ceremony at the Suffolk County Police Academy in Brentwood.
The recruits will spend the next 32 weeks at the academy receiving instruction in numerous fields including law, emergency medical training, domestic violence, anti-bias training, mental illness, cultural diversity, terrorism and body-worn camera technology.

According to the police department, the class includes 145 SCPD recruits, 16 of whom are fluent Spanish speakers.
More than 40 percent of the class has prior law enforcement experience.

Additionally, 19 recruits from other agencies were sworn in representing the Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office, Southampton Town Police, Amityville Village Police, Southold Town Police, Riverhead Town Police, Stony Brook University Police, Glen Cove Police and Long Beach Police.
