Gambling Machines, Flavored Vapes Found In Central Islip Bust: PD

Suffolk County police arrested a Central Islip gas station employee as part of "Operation Smoke Out," police say.

CENTRAL ISLIP, NY —A man was arrested Wednesday for selling flavored vape products and having illegal gambling machines at a Central Islip gas station, according to Suffolk County Police.

Levent Kara, 61, or North Babylon, was charged with public health law sale of flavored vape products, possession of gambling devices and promoting gambling after selling flavored vape products to an undercover officer at Ultra Gas at 1675 Islip Avenue, police said.

Inside the gas station, police found four electronic poker machines, which patrons could pay to use and then cash out winnings from the register, police said.

The investigation was part of Suffolk Police Department's “Operation Smoke Out," which aims to crack down on underage and illegal vape sales.

He was issued a field appearance ticket and is slated to appear at First District Court in Central Islip on June 4, according to police.
