ISLIP, NY — Since President Donald Trump took office, ICE agents have been initiating raids across the United States and throughout New York, causing immigrants on Long Island to be on high alert as news of ICE sightings spread throughout the community.

After News12 reported a confirmed incident where ICE plain-clothed agents targeted a Brentwood home while looking for undocumented children, community empowerment organization Islip Forward launched an ICE tracker, a community-driven platform created to address both verified and false reports of ICE sightings around Islip.

"Islip Forward is proud to announce the launch of our innovative ICE tracker in response to a confirmed sighting of multiple plain-clothed ICE agents conducting a targeted home raid in Brentwood," Ahmad Perez, Islip Forward 's founder and executive director, told Patch. "By working together, we can ensure that accurate information is disseminated and help protect our community from the harmful effects of misinformation and fear."

Perez added that the tracker was created to address the "surge of false reports and fear that has spread through our community."

The tracker manages verified sightings of ICE agents reported by local residents. It's updated daily with information in both English and Spanish, and is available free of charge. Islip Forward encourages all community members to utilize the ICE tracker and report any verified sightings, he said.

Perez added that while his organization certainly doesn't support criminals in the community, it also doesn't "support federal agents targeting innocent children and families in schools and churches."

"Many of President Trump's recent immigration enforcement actions, such as ending birthright citizenship and shutting down the CBP One app, are direct attacks on our Constitution and values," he said. "These actions block legal immigration pathways and spread fear amongst immigrants and their families. Islip Forward urges the Trump administration to refocus on creating safer communities, lowering costs, and fostering job growth."
