LI Man Had Enough Fentanyl To Kill 100K+ People In A Home With 3 Young Children: DA

A Long Island man was indicted for possessing over 8 ounces of fentanyl and cocaine and other related charges, the DA says.

ISLIP TERRACE, NY — A Long Island man has been indicted after being found in possession of more than eight ounces of fentanyl and cocaine in a home where three small children lived, according to Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond Tierney.

Quon Williams, 39, of Islip Terrace, was indicted on charges including first-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance after reportedly possessing the fentanyl and cocaine, the DA said.

Williams and his girlfriend, Keirsten Escobar, 31, also of Islip Terrace, are charged together with three counts of endangering the welfare of a child for reportedly exposing three small children, including a one-year-old, to the dangerous substances, the DA said.

"These allegations highlight a deeply troubling situation where substantial quantities of deadly narcotics were allegedly found in a home where three young children lived," Tierney said. "We will continue working with law enforcement to investigate these allegations thoroughly while ensuring the safety and welfare of the children involved."

According to the investigation, on May 28, Suffolk County police executed a court-authorized search warrant at Williams and Escobar’s Islip Terrace home. Police said that as they approached the house, they heard glass breaking from the rear of the home.

Once inside the home, they found Williams in his one-year-old child’s bedroom, bleeding from his hand and the bedroom window appeared to have just been shattered, the DA said. In the backyard, outside and below the broken bedroom window, law enforcement allegedly discovered a kilo press, which is an instrument designed to mold large quantities of powdered narcotics into the shape of a brick to facilitate resale and distribution, the DA said.

Allegedly discovered inside the kilo press was over eight ounces of fentanyl, enough to kill around 113,410 people, the DA said.

Police also allegedly found a kilogram of cocaine inside Williams’ bedroom and his fingerprints were allegedly recovered from the bag that held the cocaine, the DA said. In addition, around $14,000 in cash, drug paraphernalia, including scales and packaging, and hypodermic needles were allegedly recovered during the execution of the warrant, the DA said.

All the items were allegedly discovered in the home that housed three children ages 1, 5 and 10 at the time when police searched the house, the DA said.

On June 16, Williams was arraigned on the indictment before Acting County Court Judge James McDonaugh and was charged with two counts of first-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, A-I felonies; two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, Class B felonies; one count of tampering with physical evidence, a Class E felony; two counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia, Class A misdemeanors; and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, Class A misdemeanors, the DA said.

McDonaugh ordered Williams held on $1,000,000 cash, $2,000,000 bond or $10,000,000 partially secured bond during the pendency of the case, the DA said.

Williams is due back in court on July 15 and faces 30 years in prison if convicted on the top count, the DA said.
