Power Restored After 1,700 Lose Power In Islip

Nearly 2,000 homes in Islip lost power Friday morning, PSEG officials say.

ISLIP, NY — Power was restored Friday morning after an outage caused nearly 2,000 Islip homes to lose power.

PSEL Long Island told Patch that an outage in the Islip area affected approximately 1,700 customers at 7:40 a.m.

"We restored over 1,300 customers in three minutes. We restored 428 customers in less than 90 minutes, and the remaining four customers were restored at 9:29 a.m.," a PSEG rep told Patch at 10 a.m. "The cause is still under investigation."
