Toddler Dies After Being Pulled From Islandia Pool: Police

The child was pulled from a residential pool in Islandia on Tuesday afternoon. He was pronounced dead at a Bay Shore hospital, police say.

ISLANDIA, NY — A two-year-old boy died after being found unresponsive in a residential swimming pool in Islandia on Tuesday, Suffolk County police said.

Chosen Johnson-Pierre, 2, was unresponsive when a family member pulled him out of the water and began CPR until first responders arrived on the scene, police said.

Police arrived at the residence on Sunflower Lane around 12:40 p.m. after receiving a 911 call reporting the tragedy, police said.

Johnson-Pierre, a resident of the home, was transported to South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead.
