‘You Are Going to Die Here’: Man Who Cleaned Blood After Stabbing Girlfriend Sentenced to 15–17 Years: DA
Albaro Chacon stabbed the mother of his children, tried to clean the scene while the kids were present, DA says.

BRENTWOOD, N.Y. — Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney said Albaro Chacon, 38, has been sentenced to 15 to 17 years in state prison after a jury convicted him of first-degree attempted assault and related charges stemming from a violent domestic stabbing.
Chacon was sentenced on Jan. 5, following a jury verdict returned in November, Tierney said.
According to prosecutors, the attack happened on Nov. 16, 2024, in the couple's Brentwood home.

The evidence at trial showed the victim, who slept in a separate bedroom from Chacon, was awakened when her bedroom door was forcefully opened, Tierney said. Chacon then moved toward her with a knife pointed at her chest.
As he attempted to stab her, Chacon told the victim, “you are going to die here,” prosecutors said.

The woman fought to redirect the knife away from her chest. During the struggle, Chacon stabbed her three times in the arm, Tierney said.
A two-year-old niece was also in the room, and the victim was able to push Chacon away while protecting the child. The victim then fled the bedroom, ran outside, flagged down a passing motorist, and called 911.
While the victim waited outside for police, Chacon exited the house and approached her, according to the DA.
At the same time, the victim’s six-year-old son emerged from Chacon’s car and begged his father to stop. The victim then saw her five-year-old daughter inside the vehicle as well.
Prosecutors said the children had been asleep in their bedrooms when the victim went to bed, and she realized Chacon must have placed them in the car before stabbing her.
The victim ran back inside the home to get away from Chacon and discovered the scene of the attack had been altered, Tierney said.
According to prosecutors, the floor where the victim had bled heavily had been cleaned, the house smelled strongly of bleach, and the sheets from the bed where she was stabbed had been removed while she was outside calling 911.
Police arrived shortly afterward, arrested Chacon, and transported the victim to South Shore University Hospital for treatment of her stab wounds.
On Nov. 19, 2025, a jury found Chacon guilty following a trial before Acting Supreme Court Justice Anthony S. Senft Jr., Tierney said. Chacon was convicted of first-degree attempted assault, a Class C violent felony; second-degree assault, a Class D violent felony; tampering with physical evidence, a Class E felony; and three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, Class A misdemeanors.
On Jan. 5, Chacon was sentenced to 15 to 17 years in prison. He was being represented by Danielle Papa, who did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
“Nothing about this case was easy, and nothing can undo the harm that was done,” Tierney said. “This sentence recognizes the pain endured by the victim and her children, and our thoughts remain with them as they continue the long process of healing.”
