Fire Rips Through Eastchester Home

Investigators say an electrical problem may have sparked a fire at an Eastchester home. The blaze broke out at 132 Lakeshore Drive around 4 a.m. The fire appears to have started in the home's basement.

Officials say everyone got out of the house safely. The people who live in the home were woken up by a smoke detector.

"It was difficult to locate the fire, which was actually confined from the basement area and the ceiling of the first floor" said Eastchester Fire Chief Michael Grogan.

It took the Eastchester Fire Department about 30 minutes to put out the blaze. No firefighters were hurt while battling the flames. Part of the home's ground floor was also damaged by the fire.

The official cause of the fire is still under investigation.
