Sexual Assault Suspect Leads Police on Chase Across TZ Bridge

Driver is in state police custody; chase caused no injuries, accidents.

 

A man facing sexual assault charges led police on a chase Tuesday morning that began in Orange County and ended on the Tappan Zee Bridge, snarling traffic, authorities said.

The pursuit began in Newburgh at around 9:30 a.m., but police lost sight of the driver. He was spotted again on the Palisades Parkway around 9:50 a.m., and police in Rockland resumed the chase.

The suspect—22-year-old Jermal Lincoln of the Bronx—was driving a white Cadillac and was eventually stopped on the Westchester side of the Tappan Zee Bridge, near the tolls.

"No one was injured, and there were no accidents as a results of the chase," said Robert Van Cura, 's chief of police.

South Nyack-Grand View police assisted with the arrest, and turned Lincoln over to state police in Tarrytown. 

"We're looking into local charges," Van Cura added.
