Thieves Forced Way In Through Kitchen Window To Get To Car Keys
A disturbing string of burglaries has seen car thieves breaking into homes in order to steal high-end cars in driveways.
BRONXVILLE, NY — A Hudson Valley family fell victim to a growing trend of car thieves breaking into homes to get the keys to high-end automobiles parked in the driveway or garage.
Bronxville police are investigating a burglary that happened Thursday, around 5:30 a.m., on Pondfield Road. The thieves forced their way into the home through a kitchen window. Once inside the home, the invaders stole a purse containing key fobs to two vehicles in the driveway.
The burglars then turned into car thieves and stole a vehicle from the driveway.

"This method of stealing vehicles has become more common recently throughout Westchester County," Bronxville Police Chief Christopher Satriale said in a statement. "We urge you to always activate your home burglar systems — especially overnight. Please do not leave key fobs in your purse or on shelves or tables, on the first floor of your home and lock and always alarm your vehicle. Any suspicious activity, noise or persons should be reported via calling 911 immediately."
