Voter's Guide: Bronxville, Eastchester, Tuckahoe Go To Polls Tuesday

Voters in the Bronxville, Eastchester, Tuckahoe school districts will decide whether to approve their 2023-24 school budgets Tuesday.

BRONXVILLE-EASTCHESTER, NY — Voters in Eastchester will be going to the polls Tuesday to decide whether to approve 2023-24 school budgets for the Bronxville, Eastchester and Tuckahoe school districts.

In the Bronxville district, The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Bronxville School Blue Gym, the Meadow Ave. entrance.

The proposed spending package is $52.8 million, which is up 3.49 percent over the current budget.

The tax levy increase is 2.29 percent, which is under the state tax cap.

Proposition No. 2 is whether to approve a capital reserve fund of up to $20 million.

Proposition No. 3 is whether all school district elections for board trustees be conducted on an “at large” basis, meaning all candidates are eligible for all vacancies, with the winners determined by receiving the most votes. Candidates will no longer run for specific seats.

There are two, three-year vacancies up for election:

  • Jason Curran and Christina Skinner are vying to fill the seat currently held by Michael F. Finley
  • Sara Kenny is running unopposed to fill the seat currently held by Jennifer Russo.

In the Eastchester district, the polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Eastchester Middle School, 550 White Plains Rd., entrance in the rear of the building off Lincoln Avenue

The proposed spending package is $101.8 million, which is up 5.9 percent over the current budget.

The tax levy increase is zero percent, which is under the state tax cap.

There are four candidates running for two, three-year terms. Voters may choose up to three candidates. They are:

  • Jill Cosentino
  • Sean Fellin
  • Robert Krukowski, incumbent
  • Vito Catania, incumbent

In the Tuckahoe district, the polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the following locations:

  • School Election District A (comprised of all of the area lying west of the west line of Midland Avenue) to vote at Tuckahoe Community Center, 71 Columbus Avenue, Tuckahoe.
  • School Election District B (comprised of all of the area lying east of the line of Midland Avenue and north of the southeast boundary line of the Siwanoy Country Club) to vote at William E. Cottle School, 2 Siwanoy Boulevard, Eastchester.

The proposed spending package is $40.1 million, which is up 4.94 percent over the current budget.

The tax levy increase is 2.74 percent, which is under the state tax cap.

There are four candidates running for two, three-year seats: Scott Bogetti, incumbent Peter Casson, Giulia Frasca Leto and incumbent Lori Gerald.
