MIDWOOD, NY — A teenage subway surfer was fatally struck by a Brooklyn F train Friday afternoon, according to police and reports.
Alam Reyes, 14, of Queens, was fatally struck by a Coney Island-boud F train near the Avenue N station about 2:20 p.m., according to police. He was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.
Reyes was subway surfing when he fell off the roof of the train and onto the tracks, according to the New York Post.

Reyes's family, now left mourning the teen described as a "good kid," said his death is a tragic reminder of the danger of subway surfing, according to the New York Daily News.
“He grew up playing with my son,” a neighbor told The Post. “He is a very good boy. Very quiet, very respectful guy. He’s always smiling, a good boy.

Police officials on Monday posted a caution to subway surfers.
"Subway surfing on top of a [subway] is a dangerous & reckless act. Don't risk your life for a thrill," NYPD representatives said in a tweet.
In June, another teen died while subway surfing on a Brooklyn L train near Broadway Junction, authorities said. A second teen was seriously injured at the same time.
Like Reyes' loved ones, Mayor Eric Adams has also called attention to the dangerous role of social media in subway surfing deaths.
"Social media is impacting our lives and they’re robbing our children of their innocence,” Adams said in February, 2023.
