BROOKLYN, NY — A whale was spotted swimming in the East River under the Brooklyn Bridge and the Manhattan Bridge on Monday just before sunset, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
The gigantic, silvery mammal was filmed flipping its tail and blowing water out of its spout near the Brooklyn shore, according to footage acquired by Fox News.
Coast Guard officials said the whale was either a humpback whale or an endangered North Atlantic right whale, according to Gothamist, which first reported the story.
