The Green-Wood Cemetery today announced the release of a Request for Proposals (RFP)for professional design and engineering services to advance the second phase of its comprehensive stormwater resilience project, one of the largest private-property stormwater resiliency efforts in New York City.

This initiative will leverage the cemetery’s 478-acre National Historic Landmark landscape to capture, store, and reuse stormwater.

It follows the New York State Environmental Facilities Corporation’s announcement that Green-Wood is one of only twelve projects funded statewide as part of the Green Innovation Grant Program (GIGP). Green-Wood, the only private landowner to receive an award, will receive $1.8 million.

That award is funding planning, design, and construction of 11 sections of permeable road pavers designed to capture approximately over one million gallons of annual stormwater runoff, therefore improving water quality in Upper New York Bay.
