Woman Fatally Struck By Pick-Up Truck In Brooklyn, Cops Say
A pick-up truck fatally struck a pedestrian after making a left turn in Dyker Heights Tuesday, police said.

DYKER HEIGHTS, NY — A pick-up truck driver made a left turn before slamming into a pedestrian in Dyker Heights, killing the woman, police said Wednesday.
Xiaohong Chen, 52, was crossing Bay Ridge Avenue near 13th Avenue about 8:10 p.m. — just a couple blocks from her home — when a Dodge Ram pick-up truck traveling eastbound on Bay Ridge Avenue hit the woman, according to the NYPD.
The 72-year-old truck driver had just made a left turn from 13th Avenue onto Bay Ridge Avenue, police said.

Chen was rushed to an area hospital in critical condition but couldn't be saved, police said.
The driver remained on the scene, but no arrests had been made Wednesday. Police continued to investigate.

The intersection saw only one injurious crash in 2023, according to NYC Crash Mapper. But 13th Avenue saw 12 injurious crashes on under a mile stretch from Bay Ridge Avenue to 86th Street.
Some 26 pedestrians died in traffic collisions in Brooklyn last year, according to Crash Mapper data. In 2024, one other pedestrian died in Brooklyn and three pedestrians have been killed citywide.
