Four people — including an 8-year-old boy —were then shot late Saturday when two people opened fire into a barbecue at the Stuyvesant Gardens Houses in Bed-Stuy, according to police.
The violent weekend comes as officials work to tamp down a national surge in gun violence, which typically spikes during the summer months in New York City.
