Here are the top stories in Buffalo today:

  1. Street art memorializing Tops Shooting victims could be installed. The organization Colored Girls Bike Too is bringing a proposal to Buffalo's Common Council for crosswalk art at the location of the tragedy. Allowing the artwork to go forward would be an exception to Buffalo's general rule against crosswalk art. (WBFO)
  2. The Buffalo Juneteenth Agricultural Pavilion was a uniquely wholesome addition to celebrations at the 2022 Juneteenth Festival. Jaime Swygert, who headed the pavilion, began the agricultural pavilion at the Juneteenth Festival in 2016. She developed relationships with local farmers while working for the USDA, and brought attention to the importance of making fresh food available to everyone. Click the link to learn more about Swygert and how she organized the agricultural pavilion. (Buffalo Rising)
  3. The Covid-19 pandemic was uniquely disruptive to students' ability to learn, so how are kids catching up? Local districts are taking advantage of the summer months, boosting programs and including new methods of academic help.
