Maximum Sentence After Driver Gives Infuriating Reason For Driving On Suspended License With No Insurance (patch.com) — From Carmel, Putnam County officials report that a Philipstown man has received the maximum 180-day jail sentence after repeatedly driving on a suspended license without insurance or registration. Jurors in Philipstown found him guilty of aggravated unlicensed operation and several related charges, and a judge ultimately jailed him after he skipped earlier sentencing dates and ignored a pre-sentence investigation.

Iona Prep, Suffern, Pelham top first ice hockey rankings (thetimesherald.com) — Carmel High School’s hockey team has skated into the season’s first regional rankings at No. 10, with a 4-1 record and a comeback win over Fox Lane. The list highlights how local powers like Suffern, Pelham, and Mamaroneck are shaping up early.
   

5. Alan Arkawy (1946-2025) (highlandscurrent.org) — Carmel residents are asked to honor Alan David Arkawy’s memory with donations to the Putnam Humane Society on Old Route 6. Arkawy, a longtime real estate developer and aerobatic pilot, died Nov. 1 at age 79 and is remembered for his aviation passion, photography, and storytelling. He is survived by his sister, Susan Abramson.
