Here are the top stories today in Center Moriches-Eastport:

  1. Christopher Clarke, 34, a Brooklyn man, stabbed John Pilgrim, 80, his grandfather to death on Hounslow Road near Clyde Road in Shirley around 7:45 p.m. Monday, authorities said. Clarke killed Pilgrim and fled, Suffolk County Police said. Police found Clarke at the LIRR station and arrested and charged him with second-degree murder, authorities said. (Subscription: Newsday)
  2. A 34-year-old man was airlifted to a hospital in critical condition after his 2010 Hyundai collided with a dump truck. The incident took place on Montauk Highway near South Country Road in Brookhaven at about 6:30 a.m. on Monday, June 13, according to the Suffolk County Police Department. (Daily Voice)
  3. Got an old phone that you are willing to donate for Suffolk County’s most vulnerable residents? Sheriff Toulon's Office collected more than 60 cell phones that will be shipped to "the 911 Cell Phone Bank in Ocala, Florida," once there, all information will be wiped clean, and the phones reprogrammed "for use by victims of domestic violence, senior citizens, and victim services agencies." Reuse is the best form of recycling, so dig through your desk drawers to see if you have an old phone to donate. (LongIsland.com)
  4. Saturday, the Joseph P. Dwyer Veterans Peer Support Project hosted its eighth annual event at Camp Pa-Qua-Tuck in Center Moriches. Veterans from all over Long Island and their families gathered for "a day of therapeutic activities and relaxation at the Dwyer Project’s annual Day of Wellness." (WSHU)
