Long Island Expressway Reopened As Crash Investigated: Police
It happened at around noon on Thursday, Suffolk police say.
RONKONKOMA, NY — The Long Island Expressway was shut down for a period of time while officers investigated the scene of a motor vehicle crash, Suffolk police spokesman said.
The crash took place near Exit 59 in Ronkonkoma just after noon on Thursday.
The roadway was reopened at around 1 p.m.

Earlier in the day, a stolen Corvette was crashed by a drunk driver, police said.
The driver was treated and released into the custody of officers, according to police.
The crash Thursday afternoon was one of two that happened within proximity to each other.
A man was taken to the hospital after a crash on William Floyd Parkway in Shirley just before noon, according to police.
The man was driving a 2020 Kia that struck a delivery truck on the northbound side of the parkway, and he was taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Northbound William Floyd Parkway was closed at Brushwood Drive while police investigated.
