Center Moriches Schools Announce Dr. Ricardo Soto as Superintendent

At a special Board of Education meeting held on March 3, 2025, the Center Moriches Union Free School District Board of Education formally announced its appointment of Dr. Ricardo Soto as the District’s next permanent superintendent of schools. Dr. Soto has served as the District’s interim superintendent since August 2024. Using the Board’s goals as a guide path, Dr. Soto has moved the District forward in curriculum work, student programming and services, spearheaded the launch of a new District website, and improved communication with parents and the community.

Dr. Soto and his family have called Center Moriches their home for 19 years. Dr. Soto has also worked in the Center Moriches School District for the past 21 years, giving him a deep understanding of the Center Moriches community and the expectations students and parents have for its schools. He is recognized across Long Island for his leadership in the field of special education and for his innovative approaches to achieving positive educational outcomes for all students. Dr. Soto’s background in human resources has also been instrumental in establishing a teaching environment and Districtwide culture that continues to attract forward-thinking educators to District classrooms across all grade levels.

“Dr. Soto’s service as our interim superintendent of schools has showcased his leadership and communication skills and his unparalleled ability to build cooperative and collaborative relationships with parents, the larger Center Moriches community, and the faculty and staff of the District,” said Board of Education President Lauren Slionski. “There is a new energy in our District, a positive excitement for all that has been accomplished and a palpable confidence in all that will continue to be achieved under Dr. Soto’s stewardship.”
