The Polly Cooper Chapter, NSDAR commemorates the Farewell Tour of Lafayette by donating children's books

(Chappaqua, NY) The Polly Cooper Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution is helping commemorate the Farewell Tour of Lafayette by sharing a set of two children's books about the Marquis de Lafayette to schools, local libraries and little free libraries throughout Northern Westchester.

Book sets have been distributed to community classrooms/school libraries including the Roaring Brook School in Chappaqua and the Concord Road School in Ardsley , lending libraries including the Bedford Free Library and numerous Little Free Libraries throughout our region in Northern Westchester. Additional sets have been distributed to young people who have demonstrated an interest in American History and/or who belong to children's historical or lineage societies.

Major General Lafayette visited the United States between 1824 and 1825 as a "Guest of the Nation" to celebrate the nation's 50th anniversary as its last living Revolutionary War General. The Polly Cooper Chapter is pleased to share the story of his role in the American Revolution, educate about his life and legacy, and celebrate the Franco-American Alliance. The Polly Cooper Chapter is sharing the NSDAR America 250! vision of celebrating the 250th birthday of the United States of America and the Patriots who achieved American independence by promoting literacy, supporting community classrooms, performing library outreach, and educating on Franco-American relations as well as educating on under-represented patriots in the Revolution.
