Voters Reject Chappaqua School Budget By Wide Margin
The voters decided against the $142M Chappaqua schools budget that exceeded the tax cap.

CHAPPAQUA, NY — The ballots are in and voters have decided on the 2024 budget and school board.
The proposed spending plan of $141,856,238 was rejected by voters, 2,006 to 1, 128. The proposed budget was 2.57 percent higher than the current budget.
The tax levy was expected to rise 2.99 percent, which would have required a 60 percent voter approval.

District officials said that the budget would have supported: salaries, benefits, debt services, o&m, transportation and other costs.
"Our budget prioritizes continued excellence in our K-12 academic program, supports student well-being and emotional development, improves safety and security, and provides important facilities upgrades," Superintendent Christine Ackerman said.

One, three-year term board seat was also up for election. Cailee Hwang won the seat.
Jennifer Fahey won the single three-year term vacancy on the Library Board of Trustees.
The Chappaqua Library's proposed $3,669,352 budget was approved by voters.
