On Labor Day we honor America's workers and enjoy the last unofficial weekend of summer.

CHAPPAQUA-MOUNT KISCO, NY—Labor Day is always celebrated on the first Monday of September and marks the unofficial end of summer, since many schools open the next day. The first Labor Day celebration honoring America's workers took place in New York City on Sept. 5, 1882, but the day did not become a national holiday until 1894.

Government offices and many businesses will be closed, allowing workers to enjoy a long summer weekend. What's closed and what's open? Here's our list:
