You can apply through the county Department of Social Services or call New York Connects for guidance on eligibility and other available services.

Chamber celebrates 25th year at annual meeting (post-journal.com) — Chautauqua County’s Chamber of Commerce just marked its 25th year, outlining new strategies to better support local businesses and naming Forestville’s Aimee Rogers as this year’s Pam Lydic Coalition Builder Award winner. Leaders also elected the 2026 board, emphasizing countywide representation and long-term plans to strengthen the local economy and community partnerships.

3. Panama Mayor Attends County Consolidation Meeting (post-journal.com) — Panama’s mayor says the village is financially stable and not interested in consolidation, even as Chautauqua County offers grants to municipalities that merge services. County leaders also highlighted reassessments, gas well taxation, and Chautauqua County’s historic role in natural gas while preparing for new assessment guidance expected in 2026.

4. Jamestown man sentenced for raid that uncovered 12 oz. of meth (yourerie.com) — A Jamestown man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison plus supervised release after a March raid in Chautauqua County uncovered meth, fentanyl, and a stolen handgun. County prosecutors say a new felony drug arrest in October voided his earlier, lighter plea deal.

5. League ready (observertoday.com) — High school basketball fans in Chautauqua County saw league play heat up Monday, with Fredonia topping Olean in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 action and Maple Grove defeating Chautauqua Lake in Division 2. Several other county teams, including Panama, Cattaraugus-Little Valley, Westfield, Brocton, Clymer, and Sherman, also logged notable performances and early-season statement wins.
