Google To Buy Chelsea Market, Report Says
The tech giant is in the looking to buy the entire building that houses Chelsea Market for more than $2 billion, The Real Deal reported.

CHELSEA, NY — Google in the process of buying the entire Chelsea Market building for more than $2 billion, The Real Deal reported on Tuesday.
The tech giant, which already leases 400,000 square feet of space in the building, is currently working on a deal to purchase the rest of the building from its current owner, Jamestown, according to The Real Deal.
Chelsea Market, located at 75 Ninth Ave., houses a massive and well-known food hall and shopping center, along with offices and studio space for additional companies, including Google, Major League Baseball and NY1 News.

The tech giant's NYC headquarters are located across the street, at 111 Eighth Ave.
Press contacts for Google and for Jamestown, the current owner of Chelsea Market, did not immediately respond to emails from Patch.

The Real Deal spoke with sources families with the pending deal, who said that the contract is expected to be closed in two months. The deal would be the first billion-dollar-plus trade to go under contract this year in NYC, according to The Real Deal.
