County Says $35,000 Available Through Microenterprise Assistance Program For Businesses (wxhc.com) — Small business owners in Cortland County can now apply for grants up to $35,000 through the county’s Microenterprise Assistance Program, aimed at job creation and business growth. Eligible for-profit businesses with five or fewer employees, including startups and home-based ventures, must meet income guidelines and create or retain at least one job to qualify. 
2. One Taken to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center Following Single-Vehicle Crash on Route 41 (wxhc.com) — Emergency crews from Cortland County responded overnight to a serious single-vehicle rollover on Route 41 in Homer, freeing a trapped driver from a smoking car. The victim was taken to Guthrie Cortland Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries as deputies investigate how the southbound vehicle left the road and overturned in a ditch.
3. State pulls plug on major broadband project in Cayuga Co. (fingerlakes1.com) — A major state-funded broadband build that included Cortland County has been canceled, halting plans to extend high-speed internet to many unserved residents. The $26.1 million project, funded through federal COVID relief, was dropped over tight spending deadlines and construction delays. Officials are now pivoting to smaller projects and new planning grants to salvage local connectivity gains.
4. State Police Identify Body of Woman Found on Route 281 in Cortlandville (wxhc.com) — State Police have identified the woman found deceased near the railroad crossing on Route 281 in Cortlandville on November 25 as 59-year-old Robin Bowman of Findlay, Ohio. Investigators say it’s still unclear why she was in the Cortland area, and the cause of death remains under investigation.
5. New York Doctor Accused of Faking Son's Vaccine Record To Put Him in School (newsweek.com) — A Central New York pediatrician is accused of submitting forged vaccination records for her child, and investigators say some of the disputed paperwork listed a Cortland pediatric office that later denied issuing them. The doctor, who lives in DeWitt and practices in Manlius, maintains her innocence while the case awaits possible grand jury action. The situation highlights ongoing tensions over school vaccine requirements and documentation.
