North Babylon Students To Represent LI At Hispanic Youth Leadership Institute
Two North Babylon High School seniors will take part in a months-long leadership and civic engagement program, district officials said.

NORTH BABYLON, NY — North Babylon High School seniors Jairo Cortes and Daniel Carhuallanqui have been selected to represent the district at the Angelo Del Toro Puerto Rican/Hispanic Youth Leadership Institute (PRHYLI).
The competitive program brings together Hispanic students from seven regional delegations across New York State for six months of leadership development and civic engagement training. Participants study state government, the legislative process, parliamentary procedure, public speaking, and debate while preparing to discuss selected Assembly bills.
Students who excel during the regional sessions will be invited to join the Long Island delegation at the statewide PRHYLI assembly in Albany, scheduled for April 18–20.
