BABYLON, NY — Two teenagers from Queens died in a pre-dawn crash Sunday on the Southern State Parkway. Police have identified the driver as Jevon Lyken, 19, of South Richmond Hill, and the passenger as Debarpita Dey, 18, of Corona.
The two-car crash occurred at around 5:40 a.m. on the westbound side of the parkway near exit 35, in the town of Babylon.
After their initial investigation, police concluded Lyken was driving a 2015 Infiniti Q50 in the center lane of the parkway approaching exit 35. It struck a 2015 Jeep Compass in the rear, then left the road, crossed the right shoulder, and struck a tree. The driver and passenger died.
