70th Pct. Community Council Meeting Brings Holiday Fun to Neighborhood Kids

Children were entertained with magic, coloring books and more.

Families, kids at heart and members of the 70th Precinct gathered Wednesday night to discuss safety during the holiday season and, more important to the dozens of eager children, partake in a holiday party filled with entertainment.

"I see a lot of new faces today," Deputy Inspector Eric Rodriguez said.

He joked that though the FDNY gave out coloring books to the children at the meeting, the 70th Precinct would try to top their efforts.

70th Precinct Community Council Assistant Secretary Nathan Thompson donned his best magician's hat and began the show, calling on volunteers from the audience to help with his increasingly impressive tricks.

Also on call was a clown perfecting his act in the back of the room, officers sprucing-up the Christmas tree on stage and members of the council preparing the smorgasburg that would be served to all those in attendance.

"It's about the kids today," Rodriguez said.
