Community-Supported Vegetarian Restaurant Might Be Coming to Ditmas Park

Aspiring restaurateurs are assembling a group of advisors and potential investors to discuss the possibility of setting up shop in Ditmas Park.

Some good news for those in the neighborhood who don't eat anything with a face: a vegetarian eatery might soon make its way to Ditmas Park!

The restaurant will be a true community establishment, as Ditmas Parkers and spouses Danny Rosenthal and Jean Davis have turned to their neighbors for input on everything from the menu to the decor to the funding, the Brooklyn Paper reports

The pair first turned to neighborhood list-serv the Flatbush Family Network [FFN] for ideas, asking fellow members for their thoughts on the idea.

"We believe the moment for a vegetarian restaurant in Ditmas Park has arrived!" wrote Davis.

She noted the many reasons such an eatery would flourish in the neighborhood, including the fact that "restaurants are increasingly flourishing in" Ditmas Park.

"The neighborhood is lacking in vegetarian restaurants," Davis continued. "Many of our friends and neighbors are health-minded, if not vegetarian, and would welcome the opportunity to eat out locally."

“I really liked the idea of it being a community-based project as a way to bring people together,” Rosenthal told the Brooklyn Paper.

Rosenthal and Davis will host a gathering at their home at 757 East 19 St. to launch the discussion at 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 14. "All are welcome and potential investors, vegetarian enthusiasts and those with experience in the restaurant industry are especially encouraged to attend," Davis wrote to FFN.

A light dinner will be served. To RSVP, email Rosenthal at dannyrconsult@optimum.net.
