DITMAS PARK, BROOKLYN — After a string of four frightening rape attempts near Prospect Park over the past five weeks, NYPD detectives said Wednesday that they've finally made an arrest in one of the attacks.
Ibrahima Diallo, 24, who lives near Bushwick Avenue near Moore Street in East Williamsburg, and Boubacar Diallo, 21, who lives on Flatbush Avenue near Rutland Road in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens, have been arrested and charged for a prolonged May 25 rape attempt in Ditmas Park that haunted the neighborhood.

The two men, who police said are not related, have each been charged with attempted rape, assault and sexual abuse.
In their alleged 2:15 a.m. attack, a 25-year-old woman was stalked, sexually assaulted and beaten near the intersection of Tennis Court and Ocean Avenue in Ditmas Park, police said.

The victim told police that the two men initially followed her down the street, pushed her against a car and groped her. She said she was able to push him off and enter a residential building — but the men followed her through a courtyard and into the entrance of a second building.
The men then allegedly held the woman against a door and tried to pull her pants off. When she continued to fight, police said one of the men pushed her down and punched her in the face repeatedly.
At that point, a local resident came into the building's entrance and the men fled, according to police.
The NYPD released a video of the suspected attackers to the public a couple days later — a step which a police spokeswoman said aided in their investigation.
However, no arrests have been made in three other rape attempts in the immediate vicinity of Prospect Park since April 20 — two in the Park Slope area and one in Prospect Heights. More details here.
In the 70th NYPD Precinct, where the Ditmas Park rapists struck on May 25, police statistics show that rape reports have nearly doubled through mid-May this year, compared to the same time period last year. Twelve rapes have been reported this year — up from 7 last year.
