Here are the top three stories today in Ditmas Park-Flatbush:

  1. The tenants of 120 East 19th St., an apartment building in Flatbush, organized a protest against their landlord who they say is using "extractive" practices to remove them from their homes and de-regulate their rent-regulated apartments. The tenant union has plans to collectively purchase their building, and call upon the state legislature to pass the ‘Opportunity to Purchase’ act. They were joined by Councilwoman Rita Joseph and a representative for Jumaane Williams. (AMNY)
  2. The newly formed East Brooklyn Biking Club is on the move in East Flatbush, Brownsville, and neighboring areas. It's looking for community members interested in riding with them. The group's first community bike ride is planned for sometime in June. (Patch)
  3. A developer plans on building two seven-story towers with a total of 650 apartment units on the same lot as an Art Deco landmarked Sears grocery store in Flatbush. Originally built in the 1930s, the store shut its doors last year. Eleanor Roosevelt spoke at its grand opening. (The Real Deal)
