Brooklyn Grandma May Have Been Beaten To Death With A Hammer
Edna Pierre-Jacques was found dead Monday night in her East Flatbush home.
FLATBUSH, BROOKLYN — A Brooklyn grandma who was found dead Monday morning may have been beaten to death with a hammer, a police source told Patch.
Edna Pierre-Jacques, 78, was found dead in her East Flatbush home near the intersection of Troy Avenue and Avenue D, police said. Her daughter and granddaughter found her and called 9-1-1, police said.
She had suffered head trauma, and police say they found a broken hammer "very close to her body."

EMS pronounced her dead on the scene, police said. An investigation is ongoing, and the medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
Her husband was at the home when police arrived, and authorities are questioning him and her other relatives for clues in the case, the police source said.

Police also found gaming machines in the home's basement, and while the investigation is primarily focused on Pierre-Jacques' death, authorities are looking into "who might have been visiting, coming and going, to use these gaming machines," the police source said.
