Materials Needed to Complete Newkirk Plaza Mural

Artist J. Carlos Pinto is asking for pottery, tile and glass.

A mural is being created in the Newkirk Plaza passageway off of Marlborough Road, but without the community's help, it might not be completed.

Artist J. Carlos Pinto is asking for pottery, tile and glass to add to his creation, which sits opposite the painted mural created with community assistance in 2012.

Broken or whole pottery, as well as the bottoms of colored bottles, are especially useful, noted Pinto, whose work can also be seen next to John's Bakery on Cortelyou Road.

Leon's Barber at 7 Newkirk Plaza is collecting donations on behalf of Pinto. Drop them off in the shop, which has a marked box for old family heirlooms and keepsakes you'd like to see included in the mural.
