Here are the top three stories in Ditmas Park-Flatbush today:
- Rita Joseph joined other councilmembers on Thursday in introducing a bill that would require schools to substantively teach students about bicycle safety. It builds upon a less specific 2014 law requiring traffic education. (Streetsblog)
- A new Moroccan restaurant, Café Fés, opened last month on Church Avenue in Kensington. Among its other offerings, it boasts a large range of mezcal-based drinks. (Brooklyn Magazine)
- Assemblywoman Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn is deeply and personally invested in banning all forms of flavored tobacco products. Ever since her father passed away of lung cancer at 73, this issue has been personal to her. A new bill in the State Assembly would ban the products, but critics say it come at the expense of the increased policing of Black communities. (Pew Trusts)
