- Flatbush and Crown Heights Assemblyman Nick Perry made his case before a congressional panel on Tuesday before his expected confirmation as the next ambassador to Jamaica, which would make him the first Jamaican-born U.S. ambassador. Chuck Schumer praised his expected appointment as "a milestone that is long overdue." (New York Daily News)
- A man was arrested on Monday in connection to the deadly stabbing of a 50-year-old woman in East Flatbush on Sunday morning. He is expected to be charged with murder and possession of a weapon. (WPIX 11 New York)
- Flatbush Congresswoman Yvette Clarke joined Bronx Rep. Ritchie Torres in introducing a new law that would require space heaters to have an auto shutoff function. The bill comes after a series of deadly fires in The Bronx and Brooklyn, caused by the heaters. A fire was also recently reported in the building housing Clarke's district office. (Brooklyn Reader)
