NYPD Officer Dalsh Veve Latest: 3 Arrested After Cop Dragged By Car

Officer Veve remains in critical condition.

EAST FLATBUSH, BROOKLYN — The NYPD officer who was dragged two-and-a-half blocks by a car in East Flatbush late Saturday night remains in critical condition at Kings County Hospital, an NYPD spokesman told Patch.

Three suspects have also been arrested in connection with the incident, including a 15-year-old boy who police believe was behind the wheel of the Honda sedan, police said.

The other two arrestees were 18- and 19-year-old girls who were in the car at the time NYPD officer Dalsh Veve was dragged down the Brooklyn street, police said. They were charged with hindering prosecution, police said.

Veve, a nine-year veteran of the force, was talking to people sitting in a black Honda sedan that was parked near Tilden Avenue and East 53rd Street, according to police, after officers responded to a report of shots fired in the area.

Then, police say they noticed the car speeding away and Veve being dragged along with it down Tilden Avenue. According to police, Veve was able to fire his gun twice before freeing himself from the car.

The car eventually crashed on East 53rd Street between Snyder and Church Avenue, police said, and then was abandoned. Later that night, the 15-year-old suspect walked into Brookdale Hospital with a gunshot wound, which police say they believe came from Veve firing his weapon.

The boy was in serious condition.

Veve is married and has a two-year-old daughter.
