PHOTOS: Brooklyn Crooks Store Handgun in Fake Bible

NYPD officers discovered a Holy Bible with a secret gun compartment in Ditmas Park.

When Brooklyn cops pulled over a car for having tinted windows at Ocean Avenue and Dorchester Road last Sunday night, the conventional traffic stop got pretty weird, pretty fast.

As officers approached the vehicle at 2:30 a.m. on August 10, they say they immediately smelled weed. And when they looked inside the car, they say they saw the 24-year-old driver, Deshawn Thompson, holding an open can of Guinness.

So they instructed him to exit the vehicle.

“When the defendant was removed from the vehicle, he had an empty gun holster in his front waistband,” says an NYPD spokesman. ”The defendant stated that the gun was in the car in a ’Bible safe,’ and that the key was in the driver’s side dashboard.”

The cops later posted photos of the contraption, which says it ”contains both the Old & New Testaments,” on the 70th precinct’s official Twitter account.

Inside the Bible, according to the NYPD, was a 9mm handgun, a magazine and 10 bullets.

Thompson was charged with possessing both the gun and a knife with a four-inch-plus blade found in the car, police say — as were his two passengers, 21-year-old Santina Ferguson and 32-year-old Andre Allen.

In addition, Allen was stuck with a charge of marijuana possession, as officers allege he was carrying a Ziplock bag full of pot at the time.
