EAST FLATBUSH, NY — Police fatally shot a man after he refused to drop his gun following a brief foot pursuit, NYPD Chief of Department Jeff Maddrey said during a press conference on Sunday.
Officers were patrolling in the vicinity of 52nd Street and Church Avenue at about 1:15 a.m when they spotted a man pointing a gun at another man, Maddrey said.
Orders to drop the weapon were ignored, and the unidentified man began to flee —that's when officers used a taser, Maddrey said at the press conference.
