Prospect Park's Rose Garden Getting 7,000 Pinwheels Next Week
It could feature some of your work.
PROSPECT PARK, BROOKLYN — Prospect Park's long-neglected Rose Garden is going to get an art installation next week in honor of the park's 150-year anniversary that will include 7,000 pinwheels.
The immersive installation is meant to make the secluded area in the Northeast section of the park a little more lively while the Prospect Park Alliance considers longer-term upgrades to the garden.
The pinwheels will go in starting Friday, July 7 and run through Monday, July 17. The pinwheels will feature pieces of art, such as poetry, prose and photos, folded into the spinning papers.

The pinwheels will be made of "weather-resistant, compostable paper made from stone dust."
"Prospect Park Alliance is thrilled to be working with the team at AREA4 and Suchi Reddy on this whimsical and dynamic public installation," Sue Donoghue, president of the Prospect Park Alliance, said in a press release. "When we set out to plan our major events celebrating the Park's 150th, our key goal was the engage the community in the celebration, which The Connective Project achieves in a beautiful and innovative way."
