Severe Thunderstorm Watch Until 10pm Tonight

A fast-moving cold front combined with the city's hot and humid weather prompted the National Weather Service to issue a severe thunderstorm watch until 10 p.m. Tuesday. 

A severe thunderstorm watch means that damaging winds, driving rain and dime-sized hail are possible.

The alert covers all five boroughs of New York City, upstate New York and much of New Jersey.

The NWS recommends residents in the watch area keep an eye on the sky and be ready to seek shelter at the sign of an imminent storm.
