UPDATE: No Parking Signs For 'The Sinner' Filming Weren't City Approved

The fliers have since been taken down.

DITMAS PARK, BROOKLYN — The no parking fliers for the filming of USA's new drama "The Sinner" that popped up in Ditmas Park and Kensington this week were not approved by the city and have since been taken down, a spokeswoman for the mayor's office said.

"This production posted ‘No Parking’ signs in Ditmas Park that were never sanctioned by the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment," Janet Allon wrote in an email to Patch. "Their permit request was denied and MOME has ensured that they have taken down all ‘No Parking’ signage that was not applicable or approved by the City. The parking request has now been significantly downsized and is pending approval."

The fliers (which we first spotted on BKLYNER) popped up this week around the neighborhood and warned of parking restrictions stretching several blocks down Coney Island Avenue.

Filming was supposed to start on Thursday, according to the fliers, and run through Friday night. But they were never approved by the Mayor's Office of Media and Entertainment, according to that office.

The production company has reapplied for a permit that covers a "significantly" smaller amount of space, according to the office, and the request is currently pending.

Patch has reached out to NBC Universal, the parent company of USA, for comment, and we'll update this story when we hear back.

"The Sinner" stars Jessica Biel, a young mother who "commits a startling act of violence and to her horror has no idea why." The crime drama follows the mother and investigators' journey to uncover what really happened.

Watching the pilot at Tribeca Film Festival, The Hollywood Reporter called the first 40-plus minutes "mysterious and unsettling." Read their full review here.
