Here are the top three stories in Ditmas Park-Flatbush today:

  1. The 2020 Census undercounted Black, Hispanic, and Native American Brooklynites and residents across the nation, according to a recent analysis. The data miscounted around 19 million people, mistakenly categorizing them as belonging to the wrong racial or ethnic group. Notably, the end results were similar to the Census in past non-pandemic years.(Brooklyn Reader)
  2. Mayor Eric Adams is endorsing Brian Cunningham for State Assembly in the ongoing special election in Crown Heights and parts of Flatbush. The area largely overlaps with Adams' former State Senate district. While he has the Democratic nomination, Cunningham faces opposition from Working Families Party–backed Jelanie DeShong, who's supported by Rep. Yvette Clarke. (Twitter)
  3. The leaders of Yeshivas–Orthodox Jewish religious private schools–are upset by new guidelines for all NYC private schools, which would require them to provide an education of secular (non-religious) subjects equivalent to that found in public schools. Many Yeshivas are located in the Borough Park–Flatbush–Midwood area. (New York City Patch)
