Battery Park Shooting: NYPD Seeks Two Men As Investigation Continues
Police are looking for two men as part of their investigation into Monday's shooting, which injured two people.

BATTERY PARK, NY — Police are searching for two men in connection with Monday's shooting near Battery Park.

A 40-year-old man and 34-year-old woman were injured in the afternoon shooting, which occurred in front of 2 Washington Street near Battery Park in lower Manhattan, police said. An NYPD spokesman told Patch that two men were arguing when someone "opened fire," striking the 40-year-old man in the torso and hitting the 34-year-old woman in the leg. Police said in a statement on Tuesday that an "unidentified person or persons fired shots." Police believe the woman was a bystander.

Both the man and the woman with gunshot wounds were treated for their injuries at nearby hospitals and were in stable condition on Monday night.
Police said on Tuesday they were searching for two men who they believe were connected to the incident, and released photos of both men. The NYPD identified the men as people of interest. Both were described as between 30 and 40 years old. Police said one man was wearing a black hat, black jacket, red plaid shirt, blue jeans and black shoes, and that the second man was wearing a blue sweat shirt, blue jeans, multi-colored sneakers and carrying a tan backpack.
